Aldatu Aurretik is a concept album with the potential to be one of the year’s standout records in Euskal Herria. Featuring 10 songs, it blends straightforward pop with deep, meaningful lyrics. We’ve collaborated with Zea Mays, Oreka TX, Ede, and Ginestà, combining Basque, Catalan, and Spanish languages in this latest release.
The album takes listeners on a journey centered around change. Tom’s inspiration mainly came from fatherhood and the emotions that come with it. As a band, we wrote this album for anyone going through transformations—because we’re all constantly evolving.
Musically, this album offers a cleaner sound than our previous work, with fewer embellishments, allowing the melodies, lyrics, and harmonies to take center stage. Among the 10 songs, you’ll find danceable tracks like “Ardi Beltzak” and “Zurekin,” as well as more introspective songs like “Ez Nintzen Ni Izango, Esa No Sería Yo” and “Nondik Hasi.” We’ve pushed ourselves to explore new territory, showing the maturity we’ve gained since we began in 2020.
The album’s artwork and photography are by Andoni Beristain, a renowned artist who has worked with BBK Live and Veuve Clicquot, capturing the heart of the album in a single image.
Felix Davis mastered the album at Metropolis Studios in London (known for working with Dua Lipa, U2, Arctic Monkeys, Ed Sheeran), and it was produced, mixed, and recorded in Zestoa’s Gaztain studios under the guidance of Eñaut Gaztañaga. This record marks a new foundation for BULEGO’s sound and visual identity.
